After the original version of Blasphemy appeared on the Blog That Celebrates Itself “Autumn Sounds” compilation, Renato asked if I wanted to contribute a cover to a Chapterhouse tribute compilation he was putting together. Chapterhouse were a band who I knew were very influential and important in the shoegaze scene, but I had never really put in the time to listen to them. I listened through Whirlpool, the 2006 re-release with the EP tracks included and was taken by the final track, In Your Arms, off their Pearl EP. I was drumming on my lap in half time and thought that it could be interesting to do a heavier, half-time version. We tried to include it in our live set shortly after this, but heck it’s hard to sing live.
