This song was written for a compilation of Australian music that was put out by a French label called Beko Disques. I’ve always been a slow writer, and writing to an immediate deadline fills me with dread, but the compilation sounded neat and I’m glad I did because the track-list ended up being amazing and full of bands I love, like Deafcult, Kigo, Contrast, Hideous Towns, Bloodhounds on my Trail et al. As for the song itself, I wanted to write something simple and catchy so I could get it done quick without getting caught up in endless reworking. I thought I was being subtle and burying the lyrics just enough, but apparently I was wrong, as
this is perhaps the first time I’ve been caught out by the person who I wrote it about.
